How to interpret the Laga camera?

Laga is a “wild” beach and very exposed to the North Sea. Its sandbanks usually generate waves with a lot of power and short but intense rides.

  • The Foam: If you see a lot of white water covering most of the screen, be careful. Laga holds less size than other beaches; it gets “maxed out” quickly.
  • The Wind: Fundamental. Look for days with South (S) wind. If North wind blows, the beach gets completely messy and becomes very difficult to surf.
  • The Ogoño Zone (Right): The part next to the cliff is usually somewhat more protected and organized, but it is also where most people crowd together.

Local tip for Laga

It is a more “hollow” and faster wave than average. It works well at mid and low tide. At high tide, the wave breaks right on the shore (shorebreak) with a lot of power, which makes it fun for bodyboarding but complicated for beginner surfing.
