Here you can watch San Lorenzo beach live thanks to Gijón City Council’s public camera. The view runs along the beach from the Cimadevilla side, so at a glance you can see the size of the waves, the wind and how far the tide comes in.
San Lorenzo, Gijón’s city beach
San Lorenzo is Gijón’s big city beach, with the Escalerona promenade running along the whole length of the sand. At high tide the water reaches almost up to the wall and the beach practically disappears, so it is worth checking the camera before heading down. When a north or north-westerly swell comes in, peaks form all along the beach and it becomes one of the liveliest surf spots in Asturias.
And if you are coming to the Basque Country, at Peña Txuri Surf Eskola, on Arrietara beach (Sopelana), we offer lessons for every level with all the equipment included.
